So I haven't written in a really long time. I have so much going on in my heart and life- but being the "non-writer" that I am I have such a hard time articulating what God is doing in my life and heart right now...I was reading a morning devotion this morning out of "My utmost for His highest" that was so applicable to my life I thought I'd share it.
It is the Lord!
"Give Me to drink." How many of us are set upon Jesus Christ slaking our thirst when we ought to be satisfying Him? We should be pouring out now, spending to the last limit, not drawing on Him to satisfy us. "Ye shall be witnesses unto Me" - that means a life of unsullied, uncompromising, and unbridled devotion to the Lord Jesus, a satisfaction to Him wherever He places us.
Beware of anything that competes with loyalty to Jesus Christ. The greatest competitor of devotion to Jesus is service for Him. It is easier to serve than to be drunk to the dregs. The one aim of the call of God is the satisfaction of God, not a call to do something for Him. We are not sent to battle for God, but to be used by God in His battlings. Are we being more devoted to service than to Jesus?
Working in ministry is such a blessing. I feel privilege to be making a difference- though slight- in the lives of those God puts in my life, mostly children in need and women with nothing. I get the great privilege of leading mission trips to Africa in 2011. To be used for His kingdom and seeing other lives changed because of God's call is such an amazing thing to experience. Although this devotion is so true how often do I get caught up in the "do" and miss the resting in my Lord. I am here on earth for God not him for me. I do find myself serving Him more than adoring, loving, resting, spending time with Him. What does He ask us of? My life. Why am I surprised when that seems hard? It's my life...the whole thing. I was created for that very thing. To die.
Last week I was reminded again that I HATE who I am in my flesh. I wrote down on a little note on my desk "I need to draw closer to the Lord- my life, my job, my character depend on it. I don't like who I am when I am far away and living by the flesh." so why is it so hard to choose what I like? I feel like Paul when he says I do what I don't want to do and what I want to do I don't do. But God is good. He continues to pursue and LAVISHES mercy on me. What am I going to do with that mercy? Right now draw closer to Him.
It's not about service to Him. It's about loving Him fully while serving Him. Loving Him fully means dying, sacrificing, living a life I was MEANT to live. Sometimes I get so discouraged, thinking why can't I just get it? I continue to need God's grace.
And that is my ramblings for now. More later!
Wholeheartedness is what I long for. I found it in the Lord at the foot of the cross. The journey of life is every changing. Through those changes I grow, am challenged, experiences develop, I become more and more like the women I was created to be. This blog is a spot to document the parts of the journey which stick out.
Life Verse
"If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do." James 1:5-8
